What is the biggest change in marketing that you see coming in the next 2 years?
Now more than ever, digital marketing is crucial for any business to operate efficiently and authentically. Over the next two years, video content will take over, as seen by Instagram (the notorious photo-sharing app), transforming into a video-sharing platform in the next few months. Additionally, predicting who the consumer will be (i.e., psychographics) before you even market to them will be a crucial step in gaining a competitive edge. Adaptability and versatility are vital characteristics your company must have to thrive in the digital marketing space, but most of all, remaining authentic is what will build that trust between your brand and your consumer. No matter the size, companies will likely start putting more of an emphasis on the team behind the brand; after all, people trust people before they trust products or services.
Are their any trade organizations or groups that you belong to?
These are currently under development and may be finalized by the time we speak. But I cannot share at this time. I can only share that it has to do with Global Startups and positioning me in the jury.
What is the advantage to working with an outside media buyer as opposed to having just an internal marketing director?
Sometimes outside media buyers present a broader scope of advertisement space and options. Working externally allows for more exposure and networking.
What is one tip that you would give when it comes to media planning?
Spend excessive time solidifying your marketing strategy for any client. Everything you do moving forward will be guided by this strategy. This will allow a great sense of consistency within the brands voice and messaging.
How does a media buyer stay on top of trends with media placement?
Daily targeted research on like-minded brands as well as industry leaders that dominate the space.
