What is the biggest change in marketing that you see coming in the next 2 years?
What a tough question in September ’22! We’re seeing a lot of changes to privacy regarding online targeted ads, and we most certainly live in a digital world! I’ll be interested to see how these new changes are incorporated and perform in the next 6 months. For now, put all of your eggs in one basket with my transit bus ads! ; )
What is one tip that you would give when it comes to digital marketing?
Prospective clients – large or small – like to research and come back when they’re ready to purchase. It’s the job of a digital agency or advertising group to captivate their audience with relevant content that CAPTIVATES. Often times this is paired with OOH marketing or other community involvement to drive that message home.
What are the major challenges that you (and/or other advertisers) face today?
For years now, every traditional radio and TV group wants to become their area’s all-encompassing “one stop shop” for digital ads, live events, etc. Of course this is a natural progression, but it’s very hard for advertisers to choose whether they should purchase from the local guy, from a digital ad agency, or from the 40,000 options that they can find on Google…each with a slightly different vantage point and often times a reason that they’re the best. It’s not a bad thing, but it’s a tough decision with so many options!
What are the most effective advertising tactics and/or media for your company?
Advertising on public transit space isn’t just community involvement, it’s directly giving back to the city. Many Marketing Directors also need to check this box in their holistic approach, so I offer a wealth of benefits. Half of the media cost that my advertisers pay goes directly back into the transit authority that we are so fortunate to have in Des Moines.
