What is the biggest change in marketing that you see coming in the next 2 years?

How businesses connect with consumers… as technology continues to advance, we will need to continue to adjust to whatever comes along. However, much like fashion, marketing always circles back and after over two years of a virtual world, people are craving authentic community connections. I think we are going to see an uprising of experiential activations again that are illuminated through marketing campaigns.

What is one tip that you would give when it comes to digital marketing?

The one tip I would give with regard to digital marketing is to understand technology and know who you are trying to reach with each platform. Make sure you are clear on the outcome you want to ensure your campaign achieves the intended goal. There are so many ways to target and when the tools are used correctly, they can be very powerful.

What are the major challenges that you (and/or other advertisers) face today?

At Olive, we specifically focus on media relations. Our biggest challenge is that there are so many more ways to reach people sometimes making the impact of opportunities less impactful and requiring more effort and many more media opportunities. For example, with so many different ways to view television/video content, a national media hit doesn’t pack the same punch it used to.

What are the most effective advertising tactics and/or media for your company?

At Olive, we always focus on strategy first by identifying the client’s ultimate vision. Once we are clear, we build backwards by getting creative about how we are going to get there. We have found that creativity and courage are a pretty powerful combination when it comes to getting media relations traction. We have seen the biggest impact from media relations and that’s where we put our biggest focus.
