What is the biggest change in marketing that you see coming in the next 2 years?
Increased competition across all industries and shorter hype cycles. The barriers to entry for almost all businesses are disappearing and competition is coming from all angles: international, D2C influencer-led businesses, etc… Just like media has become incredibly fragmented, so will the shopping experience. Cutting through the noise and holding-on to customers will be harder than ever before.
What is one tip that you would give when it comes to digital marketing?
Don’t forget that there are humans at the other end of clicks, visits and orders and that these humans can become your most powerful marketing engine. Looking at everything through a spreadsheet or dashboard leaves you exposed to blindspots. Make sure that the experience and team that is there to welcome and convert your potential customers are of an even higher caliber than the work you put out to attract customers to consider you in the first place.
