What nonprofit do you feel makes the greatest impact in our community?
Compassion International does a great job helping kids in poverty. I have sponsored a couple of kids for about 10 years.
What volunteer experience has impacted you the most?
The work I’m doing in Kenya started out as a volunteer experience with another organization. It changed my life and got me involved with the women in Kenya I now work with. I initially brought back half a suitcase of beads to sell when I was speaking and help the few women I bought them from. It’s turned into something much bigger and is expanding to other groups around Kenya.
What’s your favorite way to get involved in the community?
Here in the US I work with veterans groups to help my fellow brothers and sisters. I am also part of the Veterans Ministry at my church. I also am a part of fair trade LA and work to educate people in Fair Trade and help them to understand the importance of purchasing fair trade and how it helps people.
