What is the biggest change in the advertising industry that you see coming in the next 2 years?

Change in targeting, technology and communication is ever-present in this industry. What I find most compelling in the short-term is actually the human resource element. The remote work culture born out of the pandemic has spurred a widening of the gap between the haves and have nots in advertising. The top talent is no longer relegated to agencies in their markets the way some were just five years ago. This gives higher-resource and more-flexible agencies the ability to stockpile talent and hampers the ability of some smaller agencies to attract and retain the best and brightest. But on the flip-side, smaller agencies willing to stretch now have access to talent they’ve never had before. I’m fascinated to see how the reshuffling plays out and what small-but-mighty agencies emerge even stronger than ever.

How is the trend towards streaming television (CTV) impacting your advertising strategies?

It’s obviously important to be where the eyes are, but to do so in a measured, strategic manner. So while we continue to increase utilization in the CTV area, we view linear and streaming as complementary–not a one or the other situation.

What’s your biggest challenge with attracting and hiring talent in the past 2 years?

I’m just six months into my return to Cuneo, but top talent seems to come off the board quickly, with strong salary and flexibility options from competitors making it difficult to snag top candidates.
