Why did you choose your industry?I chose this industry because I had a strong desire to build my own business, leveraging my ability to develop meaningful relationships and provide valuable services. In 1987, I saw the potential to help businesses navigate evolving marketing landscapes, and over the past 38 years, SmartFinds Marketing has grown by embracing innovation, adapting to new technologies, and delivering strategic, results-driven solutions that empower businesses to thrive.
Who are your typical clients?Our typical clients are B2B companies in industries such as manufacturing, technology, and consulting services. While our current focus is on B2B, over the past 38 years, we have worked with B2C brands, franchises, and a diverse range of businesses, helping them navigate the evolving marketing and digital marketing landscape with strategic marketing solutions tailored to their unique needs.
What do you like best about being in this industry?What I like best about this industry is the constant evolution and innovation. The ongoing changes make it feel like I have a new company every few years, keeping me engaged, challenged, and excited to keep moving forward. It pushes me to stay ahead of trends, adapt strategies, and continuously find new ways to help businesses succeed.
What are common problems you see?One of the most common problems in this industry is that businesses struggle to adapt to constant changes. Digital marketing evolves rapidly, but many companies resist updating their strategies or adjusting their expectations. This reluctance often leads to outdated approaches, missed opportunities, and frustration with shifting market dynamics.
What advice/tips do you have for clients?My advice to clients is to embrace adaptability and take a strategic, long-term approach to marketing. The digital landscape is always evolving, and success comes from being proactive rather than reactive. Invest in data-driven strategies, be open to new technologies like AI, and understand that marketing is an ongoing process. Building a strong brand, maintaining consistency, and engaging with your audience will drive long-term success.

What keeps you up at night?What keeps me up at night is ensuring our clients stay ahead in a constantly evolving digital landscape. With rapid changes in technology and consumer behavior, I’m always thinking about how to refine strategies, leverage new tools, and help businesses stay competitive while delivering results.
How do you market yourself to grow/expand your business?We grow our business by maintaining strong relationships with referral partners and earning client referrals through the success of our projects. By consistently delivering results, we build trust and credibility, leading to new opportunities. Additionally, we stay active in industry discussions, share thought leadership content, and leverage strategic networking to expand our reach.
How involved are you in the community?I have been involved in the community by supporting business networking events and chambers of commerce, helping to foster connections and growth opportunities for local businesses. While I don’t have a specific initiative at the moment, I believe in contributing through mentorship, industry discussions, and sharing insights that help businesses navigate the evolving digital landscape.
What is your favorite not for profit or charity?I support organizations that focus on education, entrepreneurship, and community development. Nonprofits that help small businesses grow, provide digital literacy training, or support innovation are particularly meaningful to me. I’m always open to learning about new impactful causes.
What advice would you give to someone thinking of getting into this business?My advice is to stay adaptable, continuously learn, and focus on building strong relationships. Digital marketing evolves rapidly, so keeping up with trends, technology, and consumer behavior is essential. Success comes from a strategic mindset, data-driven decisions, and delivering real value to clients. Patience, persistence, and a commitment to problem-solving will set you apart.
